Grafting, assembling, de-potting, re-inserting, replacing—these actions are not merely horticultural or sculptural techniques; they are also violent processes of control, forced survival, coerced growth, and aestheticization. They resonate with the themes I investigate: history, power, and colonialism.

Through grafting, the original form is lost in recombination and mutation, trapped in a state of irreversibility. The contradiction between subject and object gives rise to new limbs and heads. The original body is cut away, forced to adapt, and compelled to reconstruct the conditions for survival on non-native ground.

 

The plants in my work change with every exhibition due to their ongoing growth, embodying a state of continuous mutation and adaptation under pressure—a condition of being reshaped and forced to conform within imposed systems of order.
